Leading the design from brainstorming, research to data driven decision and dev handover
Tools Used
Figma, Hotjar, ChatGPT, Figjam, Jira, Confluence
💪 The Challenge
Healthcare companies are struggling to keep and easy record of their staff's participation in mandatory courses. A lot of platforms only offer courses and not a software to also support the assigning of said courses. A lot of current system are outdated, frustrating to use for admins and healthcare workers, leading to a lot of workers never finishing their courses which puts the company's insurance under pressure.
❓Can we offer a service for healthcare admins that to easily track, assign and view course progress for all their staff within an organisation, knowing that the app healthcare workers use (build by us) syncs with the admin platform to manage learning.
⭐️ The Process
- Research: Speaking with healthcare staff about their frustrations when it comes to course completion and current programs they use. Also interviewing healthcare companies to find what problems they have when managing course progress e.g. "...it's hard to find good courses that meet the gov critieria and a program that will let us manage the whole process and chase people without having to call them. It's so time consuming."
- Product Flow: Gathering all the research with a PM to put together user flows, product flows and involving dev's in early decisions to build two products stimultaniously. This included basic wireframes which were used for feedback gathering with experts.
- Design, Test and Iterate: High fidelity designs which were presented to stakeholders, which led to amends with internal feedback for a more impactful application. e.g. I groupped courses into categories for easier filtering as they were very hard to find in the current system.
- Developer handover: Creating a design system that is then handed over to the developer team, I worked with devs who never used Figma before here, so it came with a few learning curves of teaching sessions and creating hand over processes in Confluence.
🎯 The Outcome
The project had a lot success, it was a well linked platform to a corresponding app. Course assigning was easy, after feedback we added a Learning Plan which has many courses in it and could be mass assigned to many users. This sped up all assignments of courses, allowing admin users to control who receives what courses e.g. new users received the Onaboarding learning plan, while a senior nurse received a senior package
