💪 The Challenge
Current app was limited, a lot of editing tool were basic and companies didn't use the actual editing app much. With data integration onto videos we needed customers to also be able to make better and more advanced videos. Even film as they go via the app and then post to their company channels.
❓How can we integrate real life data to videos and encourage our users to use only our app for their corporate videos instead of other software. The goal is to make adhock videos easy to make with all tools available in one app.
⭐️ The Process
- Research: We had a form with user feedback, our customers told us what was missing, I analysed all the feedback and found the biggest pain points e.g. 'I wish i could film on my phone and see a script for it, I only have one device with me and can't always pre plan a script' and 'editing text is very hard as I can't see a lot of the fields because the keyboard covers them'
- Product Ideation: Noting down the best wins with the next app release such as teleprompter and better keyboard view when typing.
- Design and stakeholders: Since the design system was already in place high fidelity designs were easy to make. Presenting the new feature designs to upper management and the developers, making changes with feedback.
- Developer handover: Adding new components to a design system, editing some existing components and improving them with new changes then adding notes and version control to the components.
🎯 The Outcome
The app releases worked really well, every month the updates provided more powerful editing features such as better keyboard typing and being able to see the text. Better video controls especially when on full screen mode, as previously users struggled with the buttons. Transcript overlay on the filming controls were a huge hit with users epecially with the ability to save lot's of different scripts.
